Battery- and driveline system

ZEMs battery- and driveline system integrates battery-, charging-, propulsion- and auxiliary system into one. The main components of the system are:

  • Batteries

  • Propulsion motors and inverters

  • Inverters, transformers and filters for a 230/400V micro grid

  • Charging system including trafo and filters

  • DC connection cabinet

  • LV control cabinet

Below is an example of our system architecture:

Automation and Control System

ZEM has developed a standardized solution for automation and control of battery-powered and hybrid electric vessels. The goal for this development has been to:

  • Increase maritime safety through the use of existing products

  • Decrease development cost/time for maritime applications

  • Enable a standard interface for maritime Energy Storage Systems (ESS)

The heart of the control system is ZEMs PLC-based VCU. The PLC complies with DNV-GL rules for maritime systems. The programming is done by ZEMs own experts who have many years of experience from setting up drivelines from both the automotive and maritime industry.

Remote access to the PLC over an internet connection is implemented. This is for maintenance, diagnostics and data logging purposes.
